Cannabis-Infused "Moon Garden" Herbal Bath Salts

A Note on Dosing & Use: This is a topical/transdermal infusion for bath use only, not for consumption. Effects are primarily soothing and physical, with minimal psychoactive impact unless you have open wounds or mucous membrane exposure. Perfect for a shared, sensory-soothing ritual. We use cannabis-infused oil for its skin-loving and potentially calming properties.

Approximate Infusion: This recipe makes enough salts for 2 luxurious baths. We calculate based on a 15% THC flower, but topical absorption is low and variable. Do not ingest.

Step 1: The Cannabis-Infused Bath Oil

Ingredients:

· 1 gram cannabis flower
· 1 cup carrier oil (Epsom salt-soluble oils preferred: fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, or sweet almond oil)
· 1 tablespoon sunflower or soy lecithin (liquid or powder) - emulsifier to help oil mix with water

Decarboxylation Method:

1. Preheat oven to 225°F (107°C).
2. Finely grind cannabis flower and spread on parchment-lined baking sheet.
3. Bake for 35-40 minutes until lightly browned and fragrant. Cool completely.

Infusion Method (Slow Cold-Infusion for Skin Safety):

1. In a clean glass jar, combine the decarboxylated cannabis and your chosen carrier oil.
2. Stir well to ensure all plant material is submerged.
3. Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place (like a pantry) for 4-6 weeks, shaking gently every few days. This method preserves the oil's quality for skin use.
4. For a Faster Method (Heated): Combine oil and cannabis in a double boiler. Heat on lowest setting (do not exceed 160°F / 71°C) for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally. Cool completely.
5. Strain: Strain the oil through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth or a nut milk bag into a clean jar. Squeeze or press to extract all oil. Discard plant material.
6. Add Emulsifier: Stir the sunflower lecithin into the infused oil until fully incorporated. This helps the oil disperse in the bathwater instead of floating on top.
7. This is your Cannabis-Infused Bath Oil. Store in a cool, dark place.

Step 2: The Bath Salt Assembly

Base Ingredients:

· 2 cups Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate)
· 1 cup Dead Sea salts or pink Himalayan salts
· 1/2 cup baking soda (for skin softening)
· 1/4 cup dried lavender buds
· 1/4 cup dried chamomile flowers
· 2 tablespoons dried rose petals (optional)
· 15-20 drops lavender essential oil
· 10 drops chamomile essential oil
· 1/4 cup of your Cannabis-Infused Bath Oil

Equipment:

· Large mixing bowl
· Whisk or spatula
· Airtight glass jar for storage
· Two muslin bags or cheesecloth squares (optional, for containing loose herbs)

Method:

1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the Epsom salts, Dead Sea salts, and baking soda until evenly mixed.
2. Add Herbs: Gently stir in the dried lavender, chamomile, and rose petals (if using).
3. Incorporate Oils: In a small bowl, mix the essential oils with the 1/4 cup Cannabis-Infused Bath Oil. Drizzle this mixture over the dry salts and herbs.
4. Mix Thoroughly: Use your hands or a spatula to mix everything together until the oils are evenly distributed and no large clumps remain. The salt should be lightly moist and fragrant.
5. Cure (Optional but Recommended): Transfer the mixture to an airtight glass jar. Let it sit in a cool, dark place for 24-48 hours. This allows the scents to meld and the oil to fully permeate the salts.

Usage & Ritual

For Two:

1. Fill your bathtub with warm (not scalding) water.
2. As the tub fills, add 1 cup of the Moon Garden Bath Salts directly under the running water to help them dissolve.
3. For less cleanup, you can tie 1/2 cup of the salts in a muslin bag or cheesecloth.
4. Agitate the water with your hand to ensure the infused oil is dispersed.
5. Light candles, play soft music. Enter the bath together and soak for 20-40 minutes.
6. Hydrate: Keep a glass of cool water nearby to drink.
7. Rinse: A quick, lukewarm shower after is recommended to remove any residual salt, which can be drying.

Safety & Storage

CRITICAL NOTES:
⚠️ DO NOT INGEST: Label jar clearly: "TOPICAL CANNABIS-INFUSED BATH SALTS - DO NOT EAT."
⚠️ SKIN TEST: Apply a small amount of the infused oil to your inner elbow 24 hours before the bath to check for allergic reactions.
⚠️ CONSULT A DOCTOR: Avoid if pregnant, nursing, or with severe skin conditions. Do not use if you have open wounds.
⚠️ BATH SAFETY: The oils can make the tub slippery. Use a bath mat and exercise caution entering and exiting.
⚠️ STORE: Keep in an airtight jar in a cool, dark, dry place. Use within 6 months for best potency and freshness.
