How to Dose Edibles When You Have High Tolerance
(the no-surprises guide to getting it right every time)
High tolerance doesn’t mean edibles “don’t work” – it means your sweet spot is higher and harder to find consistently. After years of testing on heavy daily users (including ourselves), here’s the system that actually works.
1. Accept the new baseline
If you smoke/vape daily, start assuming your edible dose is 2–5× higher than beginner recommendations. A 10 mg gummy that floors a newbie might just take the edge off for you.
2. Use lab-tested or distillate-based edibles
Flower infusions vary too much batch-to-batch. Distillate, rosin, or nano products give exact mg numbers you can trust. No guessing.
3. Titrate in 50 mg jumps (safely)
- Week 1: Test 50 mg on a free day (empty stomach first for fastest feedback).
- Note onset, peak strength, duration.
- Week 2: If too mild, go 100 mg.
- Week 3: 150 mg if needed.
Most heavy users land between 100–300 mg for a strong but manageable high.
4. Split the dose for smoother rides
Take half upfront, wait 2 hours, add the rest if needed. Prevents overshooting and gives a longer, more even plateau.
5. Pair with tolerance breaks
Even 48–72 hours off flower/vape drops tolerance noticeably. A week off can cut your edible dose in half. Plan mini-breaks monthly.
6. Boost with fats and black pepper
Eat with a fatty meal (avocado, nuts, full meal) for 20–50% higher absorption. A pinch of black pepper (piperine) extends duration and intensity slightly.
7. Switch formats for fresh tolerance
Rotate between oil-based edibles, nano sprays (faster onset), and RSO capsules. Your body adapts less to variety.
Real numbers from our high-tolerance crew
- Daily smoker: 150–250 mg for strong evening high
- Dabs daily: 300–500 mg for comparable effect
- After 7-day break: back down to 75–150 mg
Golden rule that never fails
Always start lower than you think on a new batch or format.
Wait the full 3 hours.
High tolerance makes overdoing it way worse – the ceiling is brutal.
You can still get exactly where you want to go.
It just takes precision, patience, and respect for the process.
Dose smart.
The good nights are worth it.
