How to Make Canna-Ghee
(the golden, nutty clarified butter infusion – richer flavor, higher smoke point, perfect for cooking)
Ghee (clarified butter) is ideal for cannabis infusion: water and milk solids removed, leaving pure butterfat that binds cannabinoids exceptionally well. Toasted nutty aroma masks any plant notes, smoke point ~485°F for high-heat cooking.
What you need (for ~1½ cups @ 600 mg THC total)
- 3.0 g flower @ 22–25 % THC (or 1.5 g good kief/live rosin) → ~600 mg usable THC
- 1 lb (454 g) unsalted butter (organic/grass-fed for best flavor)
- ½ tsp liquid sunflower lecithin (boosts potency and emulsion)
Decarboxylation
240 °F for 40 minutes in sealed mason jar → cool fully.
Clarify to ghee first (removes water/solids for shelf stability)
1. Melt butter low in heavy pot → simmer gently 15–20 minutes until foaming stops, milk solids brown at bottom (nutty aroma peaks).
