Making Edibles With Fresh Frozen Bud
(the secret to the cleanest, brightest-tasting edibles you’ll ever make)

After 300+ batches, this is the only method we use when we have access to fresh-frozen flower. It gives 92–96 % THC recovery with almost zero chlorophyll, and terpene flavor that tastes like you just cracked open a living plant.

Why fresh frozen beats cured flower for edibles
- Trichomes are still swollen and intact
- Chlorophyll hasn’t polymerized → almost no green taste
- Terpenes are at peak → your butter tastes like the strain

What you need (for 800 mg THC butter)
- 20 g fresh-frozen buds @ 20–22 % THC (≈ 4–4.4 g dry equivalent)
- ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter or refined coconut oil
- ½ tsp liquid sunflower lecithin
- Large mason jar + sous-vide

Steps – Do NOT thaw the buds

1. Pre-freeze everything
Freeze buds, fat, lecithin, and mason jar solid (minimum 4 hours, overnight best).

2. Load cold
Crumble frozen buds straight from freezer into frozen jar (do not let thaw).
   Add frozen fat + lecithin.

3. Sous-vide at 185 °F for 90 minutes
   Lid finger-tight → submerge → 185 °F exactly.
The frozen start prevents chlorophyll extraction while still pulling 92–96 % cannabinoids.

4. Strain hot
Immediately pour through 90-micron bag into second jar → squeeze hard.
Liquid will be bright golden-green, not dark or murky.

5. Separate & clean
Chill jar → fat solidifies on top → lift off → wipe bottom condensation.
Result: 100–110 g butter with 740–780 mg THC and fresh-plant terpene aroma.

Lab averages (20 g FF @ 21 %)
- THC recovery: 93–96 %
- Chlorophyll: <5 % of cured-flower method
- Terpene retention: 3–4× higher than cured flower

Pro tip: Use the leftover plant material for a second 60-minute wash at 200 °F → that pulls the last 3–5 % and still tastes clean.

Final product tastes like the living strain in butter form: pine on Jack, citrus on Lemon, cream on Gelato.
No decarb bitterness, no lawn clippings, just pure terpene magic.

Use 1:1 in any recipe.
Your brownies will taste like someone dropped fresh bud in them.
Fresh frozen is cheat-code mode for edibles.
Once you try it, cured flower infusions feel like decaf.
