Making Edibles With Moon Rocks
(the ultimate potency play – when you want maximum strength in every bite)

Moon rocks – flower buds dipped in oil/concentrate then rolled in kief – are built for smoking, clocking 50–90% THC. But yes, you can absolutely use them for edibles. They deliver insane potency in small doses, but require careful handling to avoid waste and harsh flavors.

Why moon rocks work for edibles
- Triple-layered cannabinoids: THCA in bud + active THC in oil + THCA in kief = full conversion potential.
- High starting potency means tiny amounts go far (1g moon rock ≈ 3–5g regular flower).
- Oil coating helps fat solubility during infusion.

The challenges
- Sticky mess: Hard to grind or handle pre-decarb.
- Kief burns easy: Risk of degrading THC if overheated.
- Flavor: Heavy concentrate taste can dominate if not masked well.

Best method (max extraction, clean results)

Decarboxylation (critical – do NOT skip)
1. Gently break apart moon rocks by hand or scissors (don't grind – oil sticks everywhere).
2. Spread pieces thin on parchment in sealed mason jar or oven tray.
3. Decarb low and slow: 220 °F for 60–90 minutes (longer than flower due to oil layer). Stir halfway. Go until kief looks toasted brown, oil darkens.
Result: ~80–90% conversion (higher than raw flower).

Infusion
Use fat with high saturation (coconut oil, cacao butter, ghee) – moon rocks love it.
- Ratio: 1–2g moon rocks per ½ cup fat (yields 500–1500 mg THC batch).
- Add ½ tsp lecithin per cup fat.
- Sous-vide 185 °F for 3–4 hours (longer pull needed for kief).
- Double strain: cheesecloth first (squeeze hard), then coffee filter.

Pro results
- Clarity: Dark green but potent – winterize if you want crystal clear.
- Flavor: Strong concentrate note – mask with chocolate, coffee, spices, or citrus recipes. Avoid delicate fruits.
- Potency: Test small – these hit hard and fast.

Best recipes for moon rocks
- Dark chocolate bars/truffles (bitterness balances concentrate).
- Spiced caramels or brittles (ginger/cardamom cuts heaviness).
- Coffee or espresso infusions (synergy).
- Avoid light gummies/jello – flavor overpowers.

Dosage warning
Start low: ¼–½ normal dose. Moon rock edibles creep strong due to high myrcene/CBN from concentrates.

The verdict
Worth it for ultra-potent small batches or when you have extras.
Not everyday – save for special high-tolerance treats.
One gram goes a very long way.
Moon rock edibles – overkill perfected.
Dose wisely.
