Making THC Simple Syrup for Cocktails
(the crystal-clear, shelf-stable mixer that turns any drink into a perfect 10–20 mg dose)
This is the only syrup recipe we use for cocktails, coffee, soda, or sparkling water. Neutral taste, no green notes, dissolves instantly cold or hot, and lasts months in the fridge.
What you need (for 500 ml syrup @ 500 mg THC total)
- 2.5 g flower @ 22–25 % THC (or 1.25 g good kief) → ~500 mg usable THC
- 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- 1 tsp liquid sunflower lecithin
- Optional: 1–2 drops food-grade flavor oil (vanilla, citrus, mint) for subtle enhancement
The Cold-Process Method (maximum clarity, minimum flavor impact)
1. Decarboxylate
240 °F for 40 minutes in sealed mason jar (odorless method).
2. Make basic simple syrup
Combine sugar + water in pot → heat just until sugar fully dissolves (do not boil hard). Cool slightly to 160–170 °F.
3. Infuse
Add lecithin + freshly decarbed material → blend with immersion blender 60 seconds (or whisk hard).
Pour into mason jar → sous-vide at exactly 176 °F for 2 hours (lower temp preserves clarity and prevents sugar caramelization).
4. Strain & clarify
Pour through coffee filter or 90-micron bag → squeeze gently. Result: perfectly clear, pale golden syrup.
5. Bottle
Funnel into sterilized swing-top bottle or dropper bottle → cool → fridge.
Results
- THC recovery: 95–98 %
- Clarity: water-clear
- Taste: pure sweet, no plant notes
- Shelf life: 6+ months fridge (sugar acts as preservative)
Dosing examples
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) = 15 mg THC
- 2 tbsp in cocktail = 30 mg
- 1 tsp in soda = 5 mg microdose
Pro tips
- For flavored versions: add flavor oil after straining.
- For richer mouthfeel: replace half the water with heavy cream (shake before use).
- Always shake bottle before measuring – lecithin keeps it emulsified.
This syrup turns a gin & tonic into a perfect evening, cold brew into a wake-and-bake, or sparkling water into discreet party punch.
